Daybreak on the Lagoon
-
Description
This work captures the gentle beauty of a very special spot at the University of California, Santa Barbara, known as the Campus Lagoon. This beautiful location includes salt marsh islands as well as fresh water habitats that offer a safe haven to a wide variety of birds in the area. “Daybreak on the Lagoon” is a sensitive and detailed rendering with especially rich and vivid Autumn-inspired shades of pumpkin, cinnamon, and amber. The reflections in the water shimmer and ripple in the early morning sunlight, and the lower right corner is illuminated by a vivid shade of azure blue. This is a soothing, restful place, perfect for a lazy stroll early in the day.
This spectacular painting is absolutely luminous, with brilliant, buttery colors, and the soft, shimmering glow of the rising sun permeates every element of the painting. This is the “golden hour”, that particular time of day that occurs just after sunrise and at sunset. Photographers and artists have been perpetually drawn to the magnificent natural lighting that bathes every visible object in a unique shade that reminds us of rich, amber honey. The natural beauty of everything the light touches is enhanced, magnified, and perfected. -
