Of silvered bronze and faceted glass. Of two-tier basket form, the structures formed as a system of opposing C- and S-scrolls with overlapping tongue and acanthine cast decoration. The upper tier with six faceted large glass spheres mounted on lotus bud cast cups, the spheres united by classical pediments with acanthine crests. The upper tier filled with densely packed stranding of faceted glass beads of graduated scale mounted on wire. The lower tier with undulating hexagonal carrying ring with pierced scrolling decorations centered by a coronet motif with ‘fleur de lys’ fluted prongs; damaged later mirror backing removed, can be replaced. The framework of the lower part each culminates in a scrolled volute from which hangs a large faceted glass sphere. The lower ring with pearled edge from which issues cast acanthus leaves and terminates in a suspended faceted glass knop. Five extant holes to the base of each coronet motif where further glass drops may have originally been suspended. -
