19th Century Chinese Export Table Top Black Lacquer Jewelry/Valuables Cabinet

  • Description
    Chinoiserie hand painted 19th century Chinese export jewelry cabinet circa 1880; is fronted by a pair of raised panel double doors; decorated in gilt with scenes of Chinese figures, floral borders, indigenous trees, with pavilion pagoda like structures; all on a black lacquered background. The sides are also decorated with the striking gold and black coloring and the inside door panels have similar accents. The interior is fitted with seven assorted drawers (two sizes----three long drawers and four box drawers) for storing either valuables or jewelry (thus the key lock front) The pulls are original. The cabinet rests on four gilt decorated bracket feet to the front and rear. The condition is all original and in very good condition with no additions or restoration of any kind. There are several nicks to the vertical corners of the undecorated rear panel. The plain rear panel also has a shrinkage vertical hairline top to bottom attecting to it's nearly 150 year old lineage.
