-
Description
Extraordinary set of two almost identical rustic Black Forest wall mirrors - they only differ slightly in the top carvings (see detailed pictures) - from the period around 1870 in Germany. Elaborately hand carved out of basswood, this fantastic rural mirrors impress with their artfully crafted frames in the style of tree branches with slightly protruding corners and amazing looking gilt bars on the inside which build a fantastic contrast to the very dark brown, almost black looking surface. Another highlight are the great looking carvings on the top center depicting lovely ivy leaves. A truly beautiful and unusual designed pair of late 19th German century Black Forest mirrors, spreading this exceptional rustic flair.
