Italian oak sideboard with mirrored inserts, sculpted and lacquered cornice, manufactured by Pierluigi Colli, 1940s
This small Italian oak cupboard holds a delightful secret. Lowering the central drop-down door reveals a mirrored bar compartment, a charming surprise designed for storing bottles and glasses - perfect for serving an Italian Spritz. When closed, the central door showcases a lively geometric decoration.
The sculpted details, forming a texture of triangles and squares, provide a striking aesthetic, echoed in the three drawers located beneath the top surface. Two mirrored glass panels at the center of the side doors add lightness to the design. A closer look reveals the finesse of a delicate carved motif running along the entire frame: a succession of leaves, possibly hornbeam or privet, adds a refined touch.
The sideboard is crowned by a removable sculpted and lacquered cornice. This unusual decorative element, with its late Art Deco style, harmoniously blends with the geometric lines of the piece. Its elegant, flowing silhouette creates an unexpected contrast that enhances the overall design.
