English 19th Century Mahogany Chest with Marble Top
-
Description
A scaled-down chest of four drawers from 19th century England, circa 1850 in mahogany and marble. The removable, white marble slab forming the top surface shows wonderful clouds of gray veining under a softly etched patina and rounded corners. In the case, a stack of four drawers exhibits dramatic patterns of natural mahogany wood grain, opening by small brass knobs with faint Neoclassical references. Each drawer front is animated by a unique pair of bookmatched mahogany slices in the signature warm color and expressive, radiating waves. Keyholes are still present where escutcheon plates have been removed. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images.
