Description
Pair of antique bronze figures of cherubs and animals
French, late 19th Century
Height 33cm, diameter 15cm
Full of humour and narrative detail, this joyous set of two figural sculptures is charmingly cast in bronze to depict young boys playing with animals. One of the figures shows a boy in draped clothing holding a dog to his chest, while another dog pulls at his clothing from behind. The other sculpture shows a cat on the shoulder of another young boy, who is shown trying to hold a bird's nest out of sight of the preying cat. Both figures are set on circular veined pink marble bases.
