    Landscape View of Residence, Berlin, NY. Signed, (l.r.): W R Tyler.
    Oil on canvas, in a period gilt frame, probably original. 35 ½” x 51 ½” with frame.
    Excellent condition, no visible signs of in-painting or restoration.
    William Tyler was best known for his landscape paintings in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the Keene Valley of northern New York. He was an active exhibitor at the National Academy of Design in New York City from 1862-1866.
    This impressive work depicting a house and barns with flowing water over a dam is set in front of a landscape view of mountains illuminated by sunlight. This may be among one of his best works known to date.
