A stunning light fixture with glass shade surronded by a silk or silk like fabric held with a brass nob. The effect from the fabric shade combined with the glass diffuser is quite magnificent and truly gives a cozy ambience and will add warmth to any interior. Suits well also for low ceiling rooms and spaces.
The fixture has three light bulbs. The lamp is not in the catalogue but all the parts are by Idman and the design is in line with many Gunnel Nyman designs that we are almost certain it is by her. As she passed away in 1948, there is also a possibility that the lamp was ordered from Idman according to the customer's wishes using her designs from the 1940s. It is a fact that many of her designed have carried on well into the 1950s and some have had a dew modifications along the way. The base is the standard flush mount base for Idman in the 1950s and is stamped.
Gunnel Nyman (1909 – 1948) was a Finnish glass, furniture and metal artist, and one of the founders of modern Finnish glass design. She was also one of the biggest names in th Finnish modern design movement of the early 20th century. Unfortunately, due to her premature death at 39, and even though she managed to design numerous beautiful objects, she also left us with a sense of owe and wonder to what she could've designed with a longer career.
