“Egg” armchair Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, 60s
-
Description
Reissue of the iconic piece designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958.
Initially made by the Danish designer for the lobby of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Reupholstered in a pleasant striped tapestry fabric, in mixed materials (hemp, cotton, polyester). The Egg chair features an internal structure with a birch plywood frame covered with foam and fabric padding, a technique pioneered by Jacobsen. Star-shaped base made of metal.
The design of this armchair puts into practice the theories of design integration in architecture. The idea behind the design was to allow a certain amount of privacy in public spaces, thanks to its characteristic egg shape that guarantees avant-garde and comfort at the same time.
