A French, Louis-Phillipe period burled walnut commode with spalted effect in the wood that creates fascinating ripples on the drawer fronts. Created in France during the 19th century, this handsome dresser design features a Saint Anne marble top of swirling black and gray stone with rounded front corners, cut with a groove around the edge. Four drawers, a narrow curving frieze drawer at the top followed by three larger ones, are each fitted with working locks. Two original keys are present. The minimal hardware allows the natural beauty and exceptional technique of the bookmatched drawer fronts to be fully appreciated. The commode is raised on block feet and has a paneled back. With its elegant lines and attractive grain, this commode is sure to add just the right stylish touch to a bedroom or living area.
