Description
This bookcase is beautifully and delicately carved throughout with scrolling vine and floral designs - on three sides of cornice, frieze, and base molding and the front only of doors and drawers. It is traditionally comprised of three sections - the upper shelves, two drawers and two lower drawers. The upper with cornice above two arched glass pane doors revealing two shelves over two small drawers, over four long drawers supported by a base with four turned feet.
Anglo-Indian furniture was made during the colonial era in India, when English design was combined with Indian craftsmanship. This furniture is a blend of cultures, featuring British shapes and Indian woods.
This is a stunning statement piece in an entryway to use a drop zone or in a library. -
