$ 26,000
  • Description
    "White Icons: Flying Devil" by Keith Haring (American 1958–1990) reflects the artist's graffiti-inspired aesthetic and his knack for weaving social commentary into his work. Renowned for his bold use of symbolism, Haring often incorporated religious motifs to explore themes of heaven and hell, frequently challenging traditional religious perspectives. The recurring Angel and Flying Devil figures exemplify his intrigue with spirituality, serving as metaphors for the complexities of morality and belief systems.
    The piece features deckled edges, which enhance its tactile and artisanal quality, reflecting Haring’s dedication to craftsmanship. Created in 1989, it holds historical significance, marking the artist's creative production during a pivotal time in his career. The composition's bold and minimalist design emphasizes the dynamism of the "Flying Devil" motif, brought to life through the embossed technique, which creates a subtle interplay of light and shadow.
    Hand-signed in pencil by Keith Haring, this work bears both the Estate of Keith Haring's authentication stamp on the reverse and the Keith Haring Foundation's stamp, further solidifying its provenance. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, this piece represents not only a visual delight but also a significant artifact for collectors and admirers of Haring’s legacy.

    About Keith Haring :

    Keith Haring (American 1958–1990) was an influential American artist known for his bold, graphic style and socially charged work. Emerging from New York's street art scene in the 1980s, Haring's art featured simple yet dynamic imagery, such as radiant babies, barking dogs, and dancing figures, often outlined in thick black lines and filled with vibrant colors. His work addressed pressing social issues, including AIDS awareness, LGBTQ+ rights, and anti-apartheid movements. Despite his untimely death from AIDS-related complications at age 31, Haring's legacy endures through his iconic art and the Keith Haring Foundation, which supports causes he championed during his life.
