Rare Victorian Classical sterling silver tankard pitcher. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1875. Drum-form with high-capacity v-form spout and skirted base. Cover hinged and raised with central flower bud radiating leaf-and-dart and flat and plain piecrust rim; thumb-rest mounted to s-scroll handle. Dense allover floral repousse and acanthus borders as well as plain scalloped borders. Refined ornament and stout yeoman form. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 4341 (first produced in 1875), director’s letter M (1873-91), and volume (2 quarts). Very good condition.
