Stock Code 115320
Karl Baedeker, Leipzig 1939
Current price$860.00
Scarce edition issued in the summer of 1939 with map. This second edition published shortly after the first (1938).
There were two versions of this edition published: a) to club members with club insignia and the word 'Clubausgabe' on the title page, and b) copies to the general public without insignia etc. present. This volume is the first version with the 'Clubausgabe' on the titlepage. Austria is also included in this volume, along with the Sudetenland, which had been annexed by Germany and named 'The Proctectorate of Bohemia and Moravia' and the Memel territory which was regained from Lithuania. This copy also contains the extremely rare general road map issued by DDAC which was issued loose with the book but is usually missing. The map with this copy also has the publisher's original covers. This copy also contains a rare publisher's slip indicating that Austria, part of Czechoslovakia, part of Lithuania and Bohemia have been added since the last edition.
Endpapers dated 'Mai 1939'.
Second edition. xxx, 813pp, 70 town plans, large folding coloured map (Strassenzustandskarte von Deutschland) dated 1940 attached loose with covers, slight staining on upper cover, publisher's slip inserted at page 59,; publisher's variant coarse-grained binding, gilt lettering bright, original publisher's dustwrapper, worn at edges and partly repaired with sellotape; a very good copy
