Accompanied by a descendant of an ancient family of Nejd which had fled to Syria 100 years earlier, the Blunts crossed the great Nejud desert and explored Nejd. They met the Emir, Muhammed ibn Rashid, who received them courteously. the book also includes accounts of hunting, Arabia horses, and a journey to the Arabian Gulf.
First edition; 2 vols, 8vo; colour folding map, 15 wood-engraved plates, illustrations in the text, a little spotting, tear to fold of map without loss; later red half morocco gilt, top edge gilt, rubbed, xxxiv, 273; xii, 283 pp. a very good copy.
