Description
Max Ingrand, with almost twenty years of experience in the world of glass, began his collaboration with Fontana Arte, as artistic director, in 1945, succeeding Paolo Chiesa, who had worked in the company since the 1930s, from its foundation. From the beginning the company specialized in decorative glass, intended for the production of furniture, objects, furnishings and lighting, to be produced in series. The 2344 lamp was designed at the end of the 1950s and went into production in 1960. The base was made of satin-finished and painted metal (nickel), while the lampshade, resting on a metal base, was a truncated cone in light opaline glass. The lamp we present is fully functional. While the glass part is in excellent conditions, the metal base has probably undergone restoration work, following a dent on the back. The surface is perfectly round, but has some 'wrinkles', as can be seen in the third photograph. Other signs of age and wear are visible in the other photographs.
