Dating from late 19th century, this antique ring is mounted 9.94 carat Burma sapphire framed by old mine-cut diamonds, set in silver-topped gold, and accompanied by an origin report from AGL. This large and spready old gem is mounted with elegant minimalism and reads as an enchanting pool of rich blue depths on the finger.

Documentation: Accompanied by report no. 1144450 dated 12 December 2024 from the American Gemological Laboratories stating that the natural sapphire is of Burma origin, with no evidence of heat treatment.

CURATOR'S NOTES
For centuries, rare Burma sapphires from the Mogok region have been considered one of the top and yet most inaccessible gem producing regions in the world. As distinct from other famed sources, Sri Lanka and Kashmir, the color of the ideal Burma sapphire is "a vivid deep blue, with a slightly violet undertone" that adds a lively brightness. In accord with centuries-long tradition, Burmese rulers and governments have strictly monitored and restricted the extraction and exportation of these gems. Poachers and smugglers face possible sentences of jail for life.
