Gio Ponti walnut side table from the Casa e Giardino series, Italy, 1940s

$ 5,632
  • Description
    A rare walnut side table, Italian production, design by Gio Ponti for Casa e Giardino, 1940s

    A small yet significant piece of design history, this walnut side table embodies the essence of Made in Italy with its simple lines and perfect proportions, standing as one of the finest expressions of Italian craftsmanship.

    Distinguished by only a few refined details: a slightly concave edge, expertly tapered legs, and a generously thick tabletop, this table showcases the hallmarks of Gio Ponti's unique style.

    The renowned architect, celebrated for seamlessly transitioning from designing monumental buildings to creating everyday objects, conceived the design for this table as part of the Casa e Giardino furniture series. This collection was featured in the magazine Lo Stile in 1942 and 1943.

    The piece is accompanied by an expertise certificate issued by the Ponti Foundation, attesting to its authenticity and originality by comparing it with original projects and period photographs.

    The table has been professionally restored.
