French Louis XVI Style Mahogany Commode
-
Description
A gorgeous Louis XVI style marble-topped mahogany commode from France, circa 1870, with Neoclassical and transitional details that could suit a wide range of decorating tastes today. The Saint Anne marble top exhibits striking patterns of dark grey and white veining, shaped at the front in half-round corners while notched back corners complete the look. Each of the three drawers are inset with polished brass trim around the paneling and delicate escutcheons over the keyholes. No key is present. The top drawer is divided into three sections which makes it quite useful as a dresser for clothing as well as household linens. All three drawers glide easily using brass drop handles of angular profile. Fluted pilasters on the sides transition to graceful, tapering legs fitted with brass sabot feet. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax this antique commode is ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images.
