Franco Campo & Carlo Graffi Mid Century Italian Teak Mirror
-
Description
A mid century Italian mirror attributed to Franco Campo & Carlo Graffi. Oval teak frame with inset mirrored glass. Sourced in Rome, Italy.
Franco Campo and Carlo Graffi were Italian designers and architects who emerged as prominent figures in postwar Italian design. Both trained under the renowned architect Carlo Mollino at the Politecnico di Torino, where they absorbed his avant-garde approach to design and craftsmanship. In the late 1940s, they established a partnership and opened their own studio, focusing on furniture design that combined modernist principles with artisanal quality.
Their work was characterized by elegant, minimalist forms and the use of high-quality materials such as walnut, teak, and brass. They often incorporated organic shapes and innovative construction techniques, producing furniture that was both functional and sculptural. Their designs were distributed by Apelli & Varesio, and their pieces are now considered highly collectible for their refinement and rarity. -
