Abstract Brooklyn Bridge, Camera 35 Cover

Description
Mitchell Funk takes a New York icon and imagines it, unlike any tourist snapshot. The present image is an in-camera multiple exposure using colored gels. This colorful kaleidoscope-like image was created without digital manipulation. It was done in a pre-digital, pre-Photoshop world by taking one picture, rewinding the film, and then exposing another on the same piece of 35mm Kodachrome emulsion. In a sense, it's a little movie in a still image. In 1970, in-camera, on-the-spot multiple exposures with colored gels on color film were a recurrent element in Funk's iconography. He pioneered this Photo-Cubist style, which is simultaneously abstract and representational. What revenant is the date it was done? It still looks cutting-edge 55 years after its creation despite many current days copyists.
