Pair of Turtleback Lantern Sconces

Price Upon Request
  • Description
These extraordinary “Turtle-Back” lantern sconces exemplify Louis Comfort Tiffany’s famous decora-tive form of using opalescent Favrile glass, which he began experimenting with and implementing in the 1890s. The delicate, iridescent glass, like an opal stone, reflects light and changes color. The beautifully cut and shaped leaded glass is enclo-sed by dark, austere frames of patinated bronze. The juxtaposition between material comes together to create a unified whole and an exceptional and quite rare example of a pair of lanterns created by Tiffany Studios.
