Description
19th c. wood-block printed French panoramic wallpaper scenes in the Directoire style very likely by the premier French manufacturer, Zuber & Cie. Presenting a panorama of park and garden scenes in vibrant French blue and gray tones. Laminated on Masonite/wooden panels and framed ~10 years ago. On each board there is an animated scene evoking the states of married life (meeting, marriage, raising children/grandchildren, quarreling, widowhood). An extraordinary collection found in Paris. Each panel is 84″ H x 24.25″ W. When grouped together, the collection is 84" H x 145.5" W. Panels are for decorative purposes. The antique finish is highly pigmented and chalk-like. The color will transfer if touched. Please inquire for more images.
