Description
A set of eight Rivadossi chairs, crafted in Slavonian oak during the 1970s, showcasing an impressive patina that speaks to their history. These pieces embody a unique balance between solid craftsmanship and sculptural form, a signature of Rivadossi's design philosophy. Their presence is both bold and refined, seamlessly merging traditional woodworking techniques with a distinct aesthetic identity.
Design
Each chair is defined by its robust structure, enhanced by visible protruding interlocking connections. These joints serve as both a functional and decorative element, emphasizing the artisanal quality of the design. The backrests feature a striking hand-carved geometric pattern, adding depth and texture to the otherwise linear silhouette. The seats are slightly curved for comfort, supported by a well-balanced frame that ensures stability. Slavonian oak lends the chairs a warm, organic feel, its rich grain further highlighted by the deep patina that has developed over time.
This set stands as an example of Rivadossi's ability to merge structural integrity with artistic expression. The strong, architectural presence of the chairs is softened by the intricate carvings, creating a piece that is both utilitarian and visually engaging. Whether placed around a dining table or used as standalone seating, they bring character and a sense of authenticity to any space.
Condition
The chairs are in good condition, with signs of use that enhance their appeal. Please note that two of the chairs have a different designed carving on their backrests. The aged patina deepens the wood’s natural tones, reinforcing their well-crafted nature and long-lasting quality. Some minor wear is present, consistent with their age, but nothing that detracts from their structural soundness or aesthetic charm. -
