  • Description
WILHELM KÅGE Vase, Kåge workshop, Gustavsberg, mid 20th century.
Glazed stoneware vase with relief decor by WILHELM KÅGE for Gustavsberg, mid 20th century.
Wilhelm Kåge (1889–1960) was a Swedish ceramist and designer who served as the artistic director at Gustavsberg from 1917 to 1949.
During his tenure, Kåge exhibited a remarkable versatility in his artistic style, ranging from early Art Nouveau and Swedish Grace to bold, modernist stoneware. This diversity reflects his constant exploration of artistic expression and innovation. Kåge's contributions to Swedish modernist ceramics were instrumental in integrating artistic expression with industrial production, paving the way for subsequent Scandinavian design movements.
