Pair of T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings Attr. for John Stuart Gentlemans/Bachelors Chests
-
Description
These wonderful dressers/bachelor's chests were probably designed by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings in the 1950s. Made by John Stuart, they each feature four large drawers with ornate brass pulls. The paint was probably off-white to begin with, but over the years, has developed the patina you see here. The added contrast accentuates the fine details in the construction, such as the carved wood posts & feet on each side of the dressers, and the line in the top creating a visual separation.
Good condition. Patina is present but very pretty. Structurally flawless, and drawers work well and smoothly. Signed with metal labels.
There are some examples online that feature stripped paint and a new finish over the mahogany. This can be achieved, though the time/labor/materials will add cost. Let us know what you're looking for, and we can make it happen. -
