Asger Jorn “Froidure nordique” tapestry
“Froidure nordique” (Nordic Cold) is a tapestry created by Atelier 3 that translates the artistic spirit of Asger Jorn into a woven artwork.
Asger Jorn wasn’t just a Danish artist, he was a whirlwind of creativity. Jorn’s artistic universe was a vibrant tapestry woven from Surrealism and Expressionism, evident in his early works grappling with social justice. He co-founded the CoBrA movement, known for its spontaneous and playful abstract works bursting with color.
Jorn wasn’t confined to canvas, experimenting with sculptures that incorporated found objects and playful, whimsical ceramics. Later, his involvement with the Situationist International led to politically charged works with social commentary.
Throughout his career, the recurring “Aganak” motif, believed to represent rebellion, embodied Jorn’s own commitment to challenging artistic norms and social structures. -
