Peter Klasen, born in Lübeck, Germany, in 1935, is a distinguished contemporary artist renowned for his unique fusion of industrial imagery and sensual elements.
His art frequently addresses themes such as surveillance, confinement, and the interplay between technology and humanity.
Educated at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin, Klasen’s artistic vision was honed through diverse experiments with various mediums and techniques. Relocating to Paris in the early 1960s, Klasen became a key figure in the Nouveau Réalisme movement.
His work, characterized by meticulous detail and bold use of color, often features elements like warning signs, mechanical parts, and medical imagery, prompting reflections on modern technology and industrialization’s societal impacts. Notable series include the “Automobile” and “Medical” series, as well as “Urban Landscapes.”
Klasen’s artwork has been displayed in prestigious venues worldwide. His exploration of industrial themes and commentary on the human condition have profoundly influenced contemporary art, ensuring his lasting legacy.
