    about Rainy
After Kogelnik moved to New York in 1961, she worked in a style that combined aspects of European figuration and American Pop Art with an increasing feminist consciousness.

Sometimes her style mimicked fashion illustration to comment on society’s depiction of women. This piece depicts a woman in a bathing suit carrying an umbrella on a sunny day. Rather than shield her from the rain, the umbrella is instead producing rain that goes directly on her.
