19th Century Biedermeier Commode/ Dresser, Ash Wood - Bohemia circa 1860
-
Description
Very unusual, extravagant 19th century ash wood commode from the so-called "second Biedermeier" era around 1860 in Bohemia (Czech Republic). This extraordinary handcrafted late Biedermeier commode impresses with a very unique form language. Artfully designed lines veneered with thick ash wood which build an absolute fanastic looking grain, makes this Biedermeier dresser incomparable. The darker, elaborately inlayed fields with bookmatched root ash create a great contrast and show additional frames made of delicate, ebonized wooden threads. This one of a kind Biedermeier commode provides a large drawer and a lockable door that hides a storage compartment with a shelf. This item comes in perfect restored condition. Artfully crafted brass fititings and the beautiful traditional hand-polished shellac finish completes the incredible look of this great sized piece of 19th century Biedermeier furniture. A really rare example of a late Biedermeier commode/ dresser.
