Rare Japonesque sterling silver mixed metal water pitcher. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1875. Cylindrical with gadroon-mounted bracket handle. Dense mesh fretwork band applied to base. Dragonfly and butterfly hover above sparse leafing plants. Spot-hammered ground. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 3855 (first produced in 1875), and phrase “Sterling-Silver / —and— / Other-Metals”. Very good condition.
