Poliarte Wall Applique in Cristallo Glass, Italy 1970s
-
Description
Poliarte began in 1970 as a branch of Albano Poli's company, which had been active since the 1950s. Based in Verona, Poliarte quickly distinguished itself by creating unique, sculptural lighting pieces that merge art and functionality. Albano Poli’s vision emphasized the artistic potential of light, transforming fixtures into timeless works of craftsmanship.
Design
This wall applique, designed by Albano Poli for Poliarte, demonstrates an exquisite balance of form and function. Its front is composed of nine cristallo glass cubes, each adorned with a rounded concave surface. Air bubbles are suspended within the glass, creating a stunning diffusion of light that scatters in various directions. The facade attaches to an aluminum backplate with screws and features two E14 light fixtures. The restrained use of materials—glass and aluminum—enhances the applique’s structural clarity, allowing the craftsmanship of the glass to shine as the focal point.
This applique reflects Poliarte’s enduring design philosophy. Its refined simplicity and attention to detail make it a versatile addition to contemporary and classic interiors alike. By combining light and glass with artistic precision, it remains a striking and elegant choice for any space.
Condition
The condition of this applique is very good with some oxidation of the aluminum and a few minor imperfections on the glass. -
