Arthur Elrod Travertine Block Cocktail Table
This cocktail table, crafted from Italian travertine, was used in the iconic Johnson Publishing Company headquarters, commissioned by renowned designer Arthur Elrod.
In 1972, the building located at 820 South Michigan Avenue became the home of Johnson Publishing Company, publishers of the revered EBONY and JET magazines. The high-rise was masterfully designed by John Moutoussamy, with interior spaces created by Arthur Elrod and William Raiser. Notably, it is the first African American-owned building in downtown Chicago and remains the only Chicago high-rise designed by an African American architect.
