    Modern sterling silver home-alone cocktail shaker. Made by Tuttle in Boston in 1941. Straight and tapering bowl and domed top; short straight neck with built-in strainer and snug-fitting cap. All the essential features in small scale for an evening of post-Prohibition solo drinking. Maker’s stamp has presidential date code for Franklin Delano Roosevelt with Roman numeral nine indicating the ninth year of FDR’s long presidency. A fortifying vessel for the year of Pearl Harbor and all that followed. Marks also include retailer’s stamp (Shreve, Crump & Low) and no. 75. Very good condition.
