Description
Marc Fish, Contemporary, Ash, Gold Leaf, Set of Three 'Triptych' Vessels, UK, 21st C.
Marc Fish's relics series is a remarkable exploration of craftsmanship and modern technology. The vessels are constructed from 500 layers of laser-cut veneer, carefully layered in materials such as ash, oak, walnut, or black ash. These layers are then meticulously deconstructed using contemporary techniques, followed by hand-carving and finishing to achieve a level of brilliance that showcases both artistry and precision. This listing is for the three piece set.
The design of these vessels is inspired by archaeological artifacts, giving them a sense of ancient discovery, yet they are entirely rooted in 21st-century materials and technology. Each piece undergoes a transformative process, which is displayed in a triptych format, revealing different stages of disintegration and the intricate beauty hidden within. The varying levels of breakdown unveil the vessel's core, highlighting the natural elegance and complexity of the layered materials.
The interiors of the vessels are adorned with precious metal leaf, available in rose gold, gold, or copper, further enhancing their luxurious appeal. Marc Fish's expert hand skills and design vision guide the creation of each vessel, ensuring that every detail reflects his commitment to both innovation and traditional craftsmanship.
