Claude Montana x IDEAL CUIR tan leather runway bomber and bermuda shorts
-
Description
Extremely rare two-piece ensemble by Claude Montana, created in collaboration with the renowned French leather atelier Ideal Cuir, and featured on the runway in 1983. A striking example of Montana's bold and sculptural aesthetic that defined high fashion in the 1980s.
Crafted from a luxurious blend of suede and smooth leather in a sand beige tone, the set includes a structured cropped jacket and high-waisted Bermuda shorts made from the same material. This monochromatic, monomaterial approach was a hallmark of Montana's design philosophy during this era, where form, volume, and texture took center stage.
The jacket features a strong silhouette with four zippered pockets-two breast pockets and two patch pockets-as well as an integrated belt, snap-button collar, and articulated sleeves that enhance the futuristic, utilitarian feel.
The matching Bermuda shorts are high-waisted and sharply tailored, featuring four zippered pockets, deep front pleats, and a wide, structured waistband. Military-inspired details like D-rings and reinforced panels highlight Montana's signature fusion of elegance and function.
Often compared to Thierry Mugler during the 1980s, Claude Montana was known for pushing the boundaries of fashion with architectural tailoring and avant-garde materials. By the 1990s, his aesthetic became more refined and minimal, making these earlier designs all the more collectible and sought after by fashion archivists and collectors today.
