Nancy Stevenson Graves

American, 1940 - 1995
Nancy Stevenson Graves (1940-1995) was an American sculptor, painter, and printmaker known for her innovative use of materials and her exploration of the human form. She was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and studied at Yale University and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.

Graves worked primarily in sculpture, and her pieces often incorporated a variety of materials, including wood, bronze, and marble. She was particularly interested in the way that sculpture could convey a sense of movement and energy, and many of her works featured twisting, dynamic forms that appeared to be in motion.

In addition to her work as a sculptor, Graves was also an accomplished painter and printmaker, and her paintings and prints often featured abstract shapes and vivid colors. Throughout her career, she exhibited her work in galleries and museums around the world, and she received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to the field of contemporary art. She was widely regarded as one of the leading sculptors of her generation, and her work continues to inspire and influence artists today.
