On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, leading interior designer Suzanne Lovell served as guest speaker at DigitasLBi’s inaugural “Ideas Convection” event in Chicago. DigitasLBi, a global marketing and technology agency with an office in the heart of the city’s business district, launched the monthly event to promote the flow of new ideas from leaders working in creative fields such as architecture, design, and technology.

Lovell presented her lecture to Team Whirlpool, a group of seventy-five creatives and advertising executives working on the Whirlpool Brands campaign, which includes Whirlpool, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, and Maytag. Using thoughtfully curated images from her firm’s portfolio of completed projects, Lovell explained the influence that her design work has on culture. She proceeded to walk Team Whirlpool through her design process, touching on the art, architecture, and materials that inspire and inform her classic yet decidedly modern interiors.

Lovell went on to discuss how her firm, Suzanne Lovell, Inc., aims to redefine the traditional notion of luxury by including contemporary twists and touches inspired by her diverse clientele. Using tools such as architectural materials, furniture, fabric, and design objects, Suzanne Lovell, Inc. creates residences that reflect both the client’s distinct culture and personal style as well as the firm’s culture. Lovell stressed the client’s pivotal role in the design process -- a sentiment that resonated with Team Whirlpool. A Question + Answer session followed Lovell’s lecture, reinforcing the connections between the creative processes of the two industries. According to Lovell, “The result was a lecture that reinvigorated and energized the design process, whether it be digital advertising or interior architecture.”

Lovell has been practicing the art of interior design in Chicago for over twenty-five years. She is widely recognized as an expert in art, antiques, textiles, and furnishings. She has been featured in Architectural Digest’s AD100: The World’s Top Designers and Architects and her work has appeared in leading design publications, including Veranda, House Beautiful, and Elle Decor. Her international, full service, architectural interior design firm is celebrated for its unique approach towards designing environments that express a client’s passion and style.

Three signed copies of Lovell’s book, Artistic Interiors, were raffled off at the end of the DigitasLBi event.
