Chestnut Hill Grace
This rambling 1920’s stone residence designed by Marmaduke Tilden, adjacent to a nature conservancy, has become the private domain of a young family committed to pristine restoration. The estate comprises the main house, carriage house, tennis pavilion, game courts, pool house, extensive cutting and kitchen gardens, and terraced formal gardens all outlined by streams running throughout the wooded landscape. In the formal rooms, we inherited a beautiful, coherent floor plan, while the casual wing was completely reorganized to include a small dining room, children’s den, game room, his gym, her yoga studio, and an extensive wine cellar. Working with inquisitive, exacting clients, we integrated the nuance of their style and responded to their notion of the house as an ongoing investment by utilizing materials and concepts of lasting appeal.
