Cheswold Carriage House
This welcoming family house sits comfortably on the grounds of the renowned estate “Cheswold” which was designed by architects Furness & Evans in 1872 for Alexander Cassatt, president of The Pennsylvania Railroad. Designed for Cassatt’s daughter in 1902, the multiple wide arches reveal the building’s original function as a stable and later a carriage house. One of the only two structures to survive a devastating fire and subsequent demolition, the interiors of this much loved home have been completely rebuilt incorporating numerous period details while the exterior preservers many original materials.
