Fluent French
The erudite collectors of exemplary French art deco furniture and art needed a fitting backdrop to highlight their renowned collection. Working within a Georgian style house, the architectural structure was embellished with elegant plaster moldings in forms ranging from sweeping swagged fabric to crisp vertical fluting. Walls were lined with handmade paper, macassar ebony and textured silk. Fabrics and area carpets were custom made in France based on original designs and color palettes. Special attention was paid to period upholstery techniques and executed by skilled museum conservators. The result is a dynamic blend of elegant modernism in a graceful house of classical proportions. This project was featured in The Magazine Antiques, March/April 2013.
