Modern South Beach Project
This is our client’s second vacation home in Florida. The first one that we completed for them five years ago on Sunset Island is the complete beach vacation escape— a Caribbean Cottage in Key West. So for this project, they wanted a place to stay while traveling to and from their beach getaway that was more energetic than their slow-paced Keys destination. The apartment is located in Downtown Miami, high in the sky surrounded by the city with great views and Miami attractions. We combined the sexiness of urban Miami with its historic Deco style. We imagined a fantasy high-gloss yacht lifestyle for the Great Gatsby in Miami, infused with sleek, exotic woods and shiny metal with punches of electric blues. Working with the building’s layout, we designed a floor-to-ceiling blue glass panel screen strategically placed to cover a sharp corner right as you enter the condo. The panel was the perfect backdrop for an antique Deco bar found shopping around the city’s great antiques stores. The blue glass is back lit and glows beautifully at night, complementing the sparkle of the city lights beyond.
