Hans Knoll founded Knoll furniture in 1938 in New York City. Production facilities moved to Pennsylvania in 1950. After Han’s death in 1955, his wife Florence took over as head of the company. Designers for Knoll and Knoll international include: Florence Knoll, Cini Boeri, Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, Jens Risom, Joe Durso, Abel Sorenson, Harry Bertoia, Eero Saarinen, Anton Lorenz, Warren Platner, Gae Aulenti, Charles Pfister, Isamu Noguchi, Charles Pollock, Hans Bellman, Marc Held, Lucia Mercer, Tobia Scarpa, Massimo Vignelli , Sergio Asti, among many, many others. Famous designs include Saarinen Tulip Tables, armchairs and office designs. Many designers worked for the international division known as Knoll International. Knoll chairs furniture & design remain popular worldwide.
