Equinoctial Gallery specializes in Brazilian design, offering a unique selection of iconic mid-century modern pieces by renowned designers and also a carefully curated selection of contemporary pieces by the best current artists. Offerings include the best of vintage Brazilian Modern Design, along with contemporary limited edition photography and the edgy aesthetic of Alê Jordão, whose "Cars Never Die" collection makes use of the great number of abandoned cars in the streets of Brazil's cities, repurposing scrap metal into bold, sculptural tables and chairs. Gallery director Marcelo Vasconcellos and business partner Alberto Vicente are leading authorities on Brazilian modern design, and are co-authors of "Movel Moderno Brasileiro"/Brazilian Modern Design, a 484-page compendium documenting the works of leading Brazilian furniture designers from the 1940s through the 1970s, including Lina Bo Bardi, Joaquim Tenreiro, Sergio Rodrigues and Jorge Zalszupin.
