Steven Favreau’s interiors are far from timid. The leading interior designer’s ability to craft eye-catching spaces that marry the best of contemporary design with classic elements has earned him a reputation as one of the most daring professionals in the industry. His singular style is characterized by a unique mix of contemporary design elements and one-of-a-kind antiques, punctuated by vibrant colors, sumptuous textures, and surprising, often whimsical twists (think ceramic animal heads mounted on a boldly striped wall in an historic New England estate).

A Boston native, Favreau trained in musical theatre and dance at the prestigious Boston Conservatory and studied interior design at New York’s celebrated Fashion Institute of Technology. Favreau spent a period of time in Paris, where he performed as a soloist at the Moulin Rouge and appeared on European television. He then went on to perform on cruise ships, ultimately becoming cruise director for American Hawaii Cruises. Favreau’s extensive travels have informed his interior design knowledge as well his eye for fine antiques, lighting, wallpaper, and textiles. Favreau is a frequent and accomplished speaker at design events across the country and he has twice been a semi-finalist on HGTV’s hit interior design show Design Star. He has also appeared as a contestant on the network’s White Room Challenge. A decade after launching a successful interior design firm in San Francisco, Favreau has opened a second office in Boston.

Steven Favreau browsed InCollect and selected objects for a modern interior in a traditional Boston home. The collection was created with a particular client in mind. According to Favreau, “The client likes a mix of classic style juxtaposed with contemporary Abstract Expressionism and surreal images based in American tradition and antiques. While their home is in a traditional East Coast style, they are European transplants who like their home to feel collected from generations and distant locales. My design for their home reflects a sophisticated mix of furnishings and artwork that inspires and energizes their family. The husband travels extensively for work and enjoys the self-titled 'zen boutique' style, which features a tone-on-tone color palette but with lots of textures throughout. His wife, an English transplant, loves the bright pops of color as is evident in English country gardens. The two styles blend perfectly. Favreau Design’s style is perfectly suited to this aesthetic as we always include fine art and beautiful antiques into every design. Of course, we are just the conduit for our clients. We filter their dreams and aspirations through our expertise to give them the home of their dream, not ours. Every job is an adventure that we are happy to take.”
